JTV: Bonnie Hunter

Part of the Journey to Vigilante

vigilante-001I’ve heard from a lot of you that Bonnie Hunter is your favorite character.  I can certainly understand why.  She can act as a mother, friend and comedian all at the same time.  As you can tell, the series cannot survive without her, and I am so blessed to have so many inspirations for her.

Bonnie will be very important to Aluria and his friends in this new installment.  In the year since Aluria, she has proven to be very good at investigating, which will be very useful to Jason in the adventure ahead of him.  Even though she doesn’t yet fully understand the bond that Jason and Aluria shares, she accepts it, and does all she can to make sure that Jason survives his “crazy” actions.

I don’t think this is plainly spelled out in the stories written thus far, but Jason relies on her more than he could have ever imagined.  She kept things afloat while he found himself during his decade abroad.  And even now, she keeps him grounded when he could easily do something hasty or fall down the path of darkness.

She certainly is the comic relief to both stories, which has some deep and dark moments.  I think she is the main reason readers may laugh in the series.  But in this new story, she will play a role I never had in mind for her.  I’ll leave you to read the story and figure out what I mean.

Like I mentioned in my Youtube video about Bonnie, Vicki Lawrence was my number one inspiration for her, both in and out of the Thelma Harper costume.  She is the only one I have in mind for the part, if the stories were ever optioned for a movie or show.  I don’t think anyone else would be able to bring funny and comfort in a nice package like she could.

I can’t wait for you to read her role in the next story, and I also can’t wait to start writing her in the next book.  Remember, Vigilante will be available worldwide on March 4.
